Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Tentcast, a text-message weather information service operated by Spruce Industries LLC, doing business as Tentcast ("Tentcast," "we," "us"). By texting our number or creating an account, you agree to them.

1. What Tentcast is — and is not

Tentcast delivers weather forecasts, alerts, and related information by SMS, based on data from the National Weather Service and other public sources, for the coordinates you send us.

Tentcast is not an emergency service. Do not rely on Tentcast in an emergency. In an emergency, contact 911 — text-to-911 works via satellite on capable iPhones. Forecasts can be wrong. Weather prediction is inherently uncertain, and data sources may be delayed or unavailable. You are responsible for your own decisions and safety in the backcountry: carry appropriate equipment, know your limits, and use your judgment. You use Tentcast at your own risk.

2. SMS Terms

By texting our number or opting in on our website, you agree to receive text message replies to your requests. Message frequency varies based on your use. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel at any time; reply HELP for help or contact ben@tentcast.com. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Consent to receive messages is not a condition of any purchase.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 (or use the service with a parent or guardian) and located in the United States. Your phone number identifies your account; keep your account information accurate. You are responsible for messages sent from your number.

4. Subscriptions and billing

Paid plans are billed annually in advance through Stripe at the prices shown at tentcast.com. Plans renew automatically each year unless canceled; you can cancel anytime via the billing portal, and cancellation stops future renewals. If you're unsatisfied in your first 30 days of a paid plan, email ben@tentcast.com for a full refund. Promotional and founder pricing applies as described at signup and remains valid while your subscription stays active. We may change prices for future renewal periods with advance notice.

5. Fair use

Plans described as unlimited are subject to reasonable fair-use limits designed to keep the service fast and affordable for everyone. We may throttle or decline automated, abusive, or commercial-scale traffic, and may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

6. Acceptable use

Don't use Tentcast to harass anyone, resell the service without our written agreement, probe or disrupt our systems, or violate any law.

7. Intellectual property

Tentcast's name, brand, software, and reply formats are ours. Weather data originates from public sources, including the National Weather Service.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages — including damages arising from reliance on forecast information, message delays, or non-delivery.

9. Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Montana.

10. Changes and termination

We may update these terms by posting a revised version with a new effective date; material changes will be noted on the site. We may suspend or terminate service for violations of these terms. You may stop using the service at any time; replying STOP ends all messaging.
