Who you are working with
I’m Ben, and I’ve spent most of my life somewhere without cell service. I grew up backpacking in Colorado, biking in Utah and trekking through Europe, and these days I travel most of the year in my camper, chasing dirt biking, rafting, backpacking, camping, surfing, skiing, powsurfing and snowmobiling.
I fly Cessna 172s into backcountry strips around Montana on my PPL and tailwheel endorsement, and I help out with my family’s air taxi in Alaska whenever I can. I studied mechanical engineering and started a machine shop in 2023, so I’m wired to build things that work every time.
Tentcast came out of necessity. On the North Fork of the Flathead I caught myself sat texting friends and family to look up the weather, and a cold, wet week on the Middle Fork of the Salmon had me wondering why my inReach couldn’t just search the web itself. The Montana BDR was the first real test, and the people riding with me were asking for it before we got home.
I’m not a meteorologist, just someone who spends a lot of time out of service and wanted straight answers, like whether I need the tent tonight or whether that storm is coming in. I built Tentcast so you can get those answers anywhere, anytime.
