Privacy Policy

Tentcast ("Tentcast," "we," "us") is a text-message weather information service operated by Spruce Industries LLC, a Montana company doing business as Tentcast. This policy describes what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to send you the forecasts you ask for, we don't sell your information, and we never share your mobile information for marketing.

What we collect

Phone number and email. Provided when you text our number or sign up at tentcast.com. Your phone number is your account identifier.

Message content. The texts you send us — keywords and GPS coordinates. Your precise coordinates are used only momentarily to fetch your forecast. What we store is rounded to roughly one kilometer, and full-precision coordinates are never written to our records or logs.

Usage information. Which keywords you use, when, reply delivery status, and how you heard about us (if you tell us). Used to run and improve the service.

Payment information. Handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your card number.

How we use it

To deliver the forecasts and information you request; to manage your account and subscription; to provide support when you contact us; and to understand usage in aggregate (using the rounded, approximate locations only). We do not send marketing or promotional text messages. Every text we send is a direct reply to a message you sent us.

SMS/Text Messaging Privacy

We collect your phone number only when you provide it to us by texting our number or submitting our signup form. We use it solely to deliver the messages you request and to manage your account. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, excluding aggregators and providers of the text message services necessary to deliver messages. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP.

Who we share with

Only the service providers required to operate Tentcast: Twilio (message delivery), Stripe (payments), and our hosting and database providers. Each receives only what it needs to perform its function. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users or the public. We do not sell personal information.

Retention and your choices

We keep account information while your account is active. You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time by emailing ben@tentcast.com or replying STOP (which ends all messaging). Location data is stored only in rounded, approximate form as described above.

Children

Tentcast is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we will post the updated version here with a new effective date.
